When Nani moved from India and felt lonely, I found a way to help: turn her lifelong passion for knitting into a small business that keeps her joyful, busy, and connected to our community.

Our Story

From India to Your Doorstep

My name is Ayaan (I'm a junior in high school), and this is Nani's story as much as it's mine. When she came to live with us from India, the transition was hard. New country, new language, far from friends.

Knitting was always her therapy. I thought — what if her hobby could become her purpose here? What if the same hands that kept our family warm could warm our whole community?

"When I knit, I feel at home anywhere in the world. Each piece is a little piece of my heart."

So Loop & Wear was born — a teen entrepreneur project powered by Nani's skilled hands and my belief that community + craft = something beautiful.

Nani — The Heart of Loop & Wear

Nani has been knitting for over 40 years, learning the craft in India where handmade textiles are woven into everyday life. When she moved to the US, knitting became her anchor — a piece of home she carried with her.

Through Loop & Wear, Nani has found her community here. She loves knowing that each piece she creates brings warmth to a new family, and that her lifelong skill is now connecting her with neighbors she'd never have met otherwise.

I'm a high school junior who started Loop & Wear with one goal: help Nani feel at home in a new country by turning her passion into purpose. I handle everything from the website to customer orders to marketing.

Running this business has taught me more than any class could — about entrepreneurship, community, and what it means to give back. Seeing Nani light up when an order comes in makes every late night worth it.

How long does a custom order take?

Typically 2–4 weeks depending on complexity and Nani's current queue. Simple items like socks or mufflars can be done in 1–2 weeks. We'll give you an estimate when you place your order.

What yarn do you use?

Nani uses high-quality wool and acrylic blends — warm, durable, and soft. For kids or those with sensitivities, we have hypoallergenic yarn options. Just let us know!

Do you ship outside California?

Yes! We ship anywhere in the US. Local Bay Area customers can also arrange pickup. International shipping is available — contact us for rates.

How do I pay?

We're setting up Stripe for secure online payments soon. In the meantime, we accept Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal. We'll send payment details when we confirm your order.

Can I return or exchange?

Because each piece is handmade to order, we can't offer refunds — but if something isn't right, we'll fix it. Customer satisfaction means everything to us.

Can I give this as a gift?

Absolutely — it's one of the most heartfelt gifts you can give. We include a handwritten note from Nani with every order and can gift-wrap upon request.
